Around Phatang

Phatang is a small fishing/farming village, about 50 mins drive from Nong Khai, where life has changed very little over the years; you will be able to witness traditional Thai rural life which we think is an experience which will not be so long in passing. If you would like you can spend a little time meeting some of our Thai neighbours, some fishermen and some farmers (you host Rattana speaks Thai and English fluently).
Day or half day trips can be arranged to nearby temples and waterfalls and to explore Nong Khai, a delightful town with its lively and bustling market. A little further afield but within a two hour drive is the beautiful town of Chiang Khan with mostly traditional wooden Thai homes, shops and guest houses. Just one hour away is the fascinating Pru Phrabat Historical Park.
From Nong Khai you can take a day trip to or arrange an overnight stay in Vientiane, the capital city of Laos, simply by crossing over the Thai-Lao friendship bridge. Visas are easily obtained at the border.
Some of our guests just prefer to bring a book or two or their Kindle and sit in our garden or on our spacious balcony and simply watch the Mekong flow by.
Excursions including driver and interpreter/guide are by arrangement with your host Rattana.
